the house
A man bought a little house.
He kept waiting for the owner to knock on the door and give him orders.
“Tell me what to do,” he would say. “Speak loud so I know it’s you.”
One day he learned something.
The owner had already moved in.
He wasn’t shouting from outside.
He was fixing the house from the inside.
So when the man felt a pull to clean a room, mend a wall, open a window —
that wasn’t his imagination.
It was the Owner living with him.
From then on, he stopped waiting for a knock.
And he started trusting the good work rising in his own heart.
It’s no small thing
when Jesus invites us to sit.
To sit with Him
on the bench
is to stay near His words,
to let His light guide
and comfort us.
And when we rise to walk,
the bench comes too.
