Lamplight

Jesus said:

“I am the light of the world.”
John 8:12

His light already shines.

“The light shines in the darkness.”
John 1:5

But we do not always see at first.

Like walking into a dim room,
it takes time for our eyes to adjust.

As we stay with Him,
we begin to see more clearly.

Not because His light grew brighter,
but because our eyes are opening
to what was already there.

“In Your light we see light.”
Psalm 36:9

I think of the light of Jesus
as lamplight.

The kind of light that helps us see
where we are and the next step.

Lamplight does not show everything at once.
It gives enough light for what is in front of us.

It is not a different light.
It is simply a way of speaking
about His light.
